Body Condition Scoring

At Martensville Veterinary Hospital, we use the 9 point Body Condition Scoring developed by Purina, otherwise known as the “healthy hug”. By firmly but gently running your hands down your cat or dog’s body from shoulders to hips you can assess their condition. In many ways this gives better information than weight, taking into account the unique build of your pet.
